CHARCOT ARTHROPATHY RECONSTRUCTION

INFECTION - Diabetes are more predisposed to infections because of delayed healing due to increased blood sugars and impaired circulation and feeling. Seeing a foot specialist at the earliest sign of skin changes or infection and prevent amputations and worse infections.

CHARCOT - A condition some Diabetics get is called Charcot Arthropathy where the joints begin to breakdown and the foot changes shape. Some early treatments include casting, boots, inserts, bracing and staying off foot while getting sugars more controlled. In some cases Surgery is needed. Surgical options include: Bone resection and bone fusions of the foot and ankle.
